UFC eyes "Fight Island" as venue for Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje

It seems we finally have an event for the UFC’s trademarked “Fight Island.” UFC president Dana White says the imminent UFC lightweight title unification bout between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) and recently crowned interim champion Justin Gaethje (22-2) could take place on the island this summer.

In an interview with ESPN Chicago on Tuesday, White said he expects Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje to happen some time this summer, and that it may be held on Fight Island, pending the COVID-19 situation and the travel restrictions that have arisen as a result of it. “[It] will be on Fight Island, unless miraculously the world comes back together faster than I think it’s gonna,” said White.

No official announcement has been made about this fight nor about when the Fight Island will be officially launched. White hopes that it will be operational by June.
