Yoel Romero makes weight for UFC 248

MMA fans everywhere breathed a sigh of relief as UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero (13-4) made the 185lbs weight limit for his Saturday bout against champion Israel Adesanya (18-0).

Romero has had some issues making weight in the past, most notably at UFC 225 in his fight with Robert Whittaker, where missing the weight limit by a mere .2lbs made it a non-title bout; with the unfortunate side effect of leaving Whittaker’s middleweight title reign without a single official title defence.

“How many years!? how many years!?” the Cuban yelled after weighing in, referring to his apparent imperviousness to the effects of his relatively advanced age of 42 years.

The lean, rangy Adesanya had his usual comfortable weight cut, weighing in at 184.5lbs. UFC 248 will take place Saturday night at T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.
