UFC 252: Marlon Vera defeats Sean O'Malley via first round TKO
Marlon “Chito” Vera was the biggest underdog of the entire UFC 252 card, in his bout against Sean O’Malley.
This was apparently without reason, as Vera made quick work of the young prospect, finishing him late in the first round via TKO.
This was O’Malley’s first loss in his career, and it came under the biggest spotlight he’s ever been in: the co-main event of a UFC PPV.
“The guy has a lot of hype. Good for him. But he doesn’t have the dog I have inside,” Vera said after the fight. “The dog I have inside is bigger than all these guys.”
Late in the first round, O’Malley, appearing to have suffered a leg injury from one of Vera’s leg kicks, slipped and fell to the canvas. Vera then went to the mat with him and landed some vicious strikes from O’Malley’s guard, forcing referee Herb Dean to intervene and call the fight.
O’Malley was carted off on a stretcher.
