Jon Jones hints that he may fight at UFC 282

2022 has not been a good year for Jon Jones' life and MMA career.

The mercurial fighter vacated his UFC light heavyweight title in August 2020, announcing that he would be moving up in weight to challenge for the heavyweight belt.

Since then, however, not only has there been little in the way of concrete news and announcements, but Jones' personal and legal issues have prevented him from competing at all.

Jones' longtime manager - Malki Kawa - even suggests that Jones may retire from the sport. "It could very well be the last time we've seen Jon Jones in the Octagon," said Kawa.

However, two years after vacating his light heavyweight belt, Jones is now hinting at a fight, tweeting "UFC 282" from his personal Twitter account:

He later posted the addendum: "I used the wrong emoji."

Nonetheless, it is clear that Jones is angling at a return to the Octagon, and once again, he is making his intentions clear that he wants to compete at heavyweight.

Jones' last fight was at UFC 247 in February 2020; a unanimous decision victory against Dominick Reyes. While Jones managed to add to his long list of title defences, many saw Reyes as being more deserving of the win, and saw this fight as a sign of Jones' decline.
