Daniel Cormier reveals he had COVID-19 before Miocic trilogy fight
Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion (and current UFC commentator) Daniel Cormier revealed in an interview with Yahoo! Sports this Tuesday that he was COVID positive during his training camp for his trilogy bout against Stipe Miocic at UFC 252.
The now retired Cormier began feeling symptoms on July 8th and would test positive the following week. Cormier says it was thanks to the Oura Health ring device that he was able to recognize the sickness early and take the necessary steps to recover.
“This is not an excuse at all … This is a thank you to Oura for allowing me to get to the fight,” Cormier said, in an announcement which surely has relevance to the UFC’s newly announced partnership with Oura Health.
