Dana White suggests Dustin Poirier's price was too high for Tony Ferguson fight

Serious talks were being held for a fight between Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson at UFC 254; a fight that made sense in terms of rankings and which many fans were clamoring for.

However, these talks fell apart when it was revealed that Poirier could not agree to the terms the UFC had put forth. Tony Ferguson, in an unorthodox move for contract negotiations, came to Poirier’s defense and suggested that UFC president Dana White concede to his demands:

White said of Poirier on Tuesday at the post-fight news conference of Dana White’s Contender Series 33: “I don’t know if it was [that] he didn’t want to fight in Abu Dhabi or what his deal was. He didn’t want to fight.”

Poirier took exception to this, responding: “I do want that fight. Simple and plain, I want to fight Tony.”

Nonetheless, it appears the UFC has moved on from that matchup and is looking to arrange another opponent for Ferguson.
