Dana White has 'something special' planned for Khabib Nurmagomedov if he beats Justin Gaethje, but what
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to return to the Octagon after over a year’s layoff to face Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on Abu Dhabi’s “Fight Island.”
Although Nurmagomedov is not overlooking his current challenge, UFC president Dana White has hinted at “big things” for Nurmagomedov after this fight.
“Dana told me, after this fight, he has something special for me,” said Khabib. “I told him, ‘Please keep this [a secret]. After the fight, we’re going to talk.’” It has not yet been hinted as to what White’s surprise will be.
Some fans have speculated it could be a superfight against legend Georges St. Pierre, a fight which both Khabib and St. Pierre have clamored for in the past.
Nurmagomedov, 28-0, has long expressed his desire to retire at age 32, an age he reached last month. However, he does not see this as his last fight. When asked about this, Nurmagomedov said: “I don’t think [I will retire].”
