Dana White confirms he has location for UFC 249

Fans breathed a collective sigh of relief as UFC president Dana White has announced that Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson – the biggest fight in MMA history – will proceed, and it will feature the full UFC 249 card.

The much-anticipated bout – originally planned for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, will now take place as a closed-door event. As all major sports have suspended their events in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, White insists that the UFC will carry on as usual. “Health and safety is something we’ve been doing long before the coronavirus and we’ll be doing it long after the coronavirus is gone,” said the promotional president. “This is just normal (expletive) for us.”

As for the location, White remarked: “I do [know where], but I’m not ready to tell you yet,” confirming that fans would not be present at the event: “It’s going to be a closed event.”

After being scheduled on four different occasions and falling apart each time, White seems insistent upon proving that the fight is not “cursed” as many fans suspect.
