Dana White announces UFC 249 details, future plans
We have finally got some official details regarding the upcoming UFC events. On Friday, UFC president Dana White spoke with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto about these details, as well as the company’s plans for the future.
As per this interview, UFC 249 will take place on May 9th, in Jacksonville, Florida. Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje will be the main event, and the two men will fight for the interim lightweight title. There will also be cards on May 13th and May 16th, with the lineups for these cards yet to be announced.
The promotion seems keen on putting on an entertaining event while it is the “only show in town” in the sporting world; the official UFC 249 fight card is very much talent-stacked:

As for lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was originally slated to fight Ferguson, the UFC is targeting September or October for his return to action.
