Conor McGregor congratulates Nate Diaz, promises trilogy fight

As Nate Diaz enters the final fight of his UFC contract, his old rival Conor McGregor has hinted at fighting him a third time. McGregor congratulated Diaz on fighting out his contract; calling it an 'incredible feat' before promising: 'Our trilogy will happen.'

Diaz has also expressed openness to a trilogy fight against McGregor.

In the meantime, Diaz's opponent will be former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. This comes after the reshuffling of the UFC 279 main card, with Diaz's original opponent Khamzat Chimaev now slated to fight Kevin Holland.

After fighting out his contract, Diaz will presumably test the open market for his talents. He has fought in the UFC since 2007.
