Miocic vs. Cormier III is official. UFC president Dana White revealed today on ESPN’s “First Take” that the two heavyweights will headline the UFC 252 card on August 15th.
While the United States’ effort to contain COVID-19 shut down gyms across the country and caused Miocic to prioritize his work as a first responder, it seems we will finally get a conclusion to this all-time great trilogy. Cormier commented: “I can’t wait to fight this dude again!”
Cormier took the UFC heavyweight belt from Miocic at UFC 226 with a first round KO victory. Miocic long demanded a rematch, which he earned following failed negotiations for a fight between Cormier and Brock Lesnar.
That rematch came at UFC 241. After winning the early rounds, Cormier was battered by Stipe’s vicious body shots and lost by TKO late in the fourth round.
The UFC has yet to announce the location for this card.
