The Colombus card was one of three cards that the UFC had to ultimately cancel due to the covid-19 pandemic. Dana White, however, insists that the UFC 249 card will be held without postponing. He confirmed it will be closed to the public and will likely take place outside of the United States.
Ngannou initially leaked the news that his fight might be rescheduled, but White on Wednesday confirmed the move when speaking with ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto in an Instagram live chat.
“Some of the things are gonna work out. Some of the things might not work out. If they don’t, what do we do?” White said. “Francis is one of the guys we’re looking at (moving to UFC 249) too.”
With sports fans itching for a fix of televised competition, it is up to Dana and the UFC to do everything in their power to keep the event alive.
