Leon Edwards offers to fight Khamzat Chimaev

On Thursday, it was revealed that No. 3 ranked UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards would be removed from the rankings due to inactivity.

Edwards, who had long been angling for a title fight or a fight against a top contender, made a rather unexpected choice of calling out… Khamzat Chimaev. Edwards posted to Twitter, “I’m still in the rankings… Khamzat want to fight then?”

The mercurial Chimaev, who made his UFC debut in July, has taken the sport by storm, winning three fights and absorbing just two strikes combined said fights.

Chimaev is undefeated in his MMA career, but would be facing a huge step up in competition against Leon Edwards, who last fought in July of last year, winning a unanimous decision victory against Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC on ESPN 4.
